This study examines the historical unfolding of human culture and civilization from the perspective of KPGM Anthropocene Missiology. Taking God’s purpose in creation and the vision of the Kingdom of God revealed in Scripture as its interpretive standard, it seeks to explore, from a Christian missiological perspective, the direction and tasks facing culture and civilization in the present and future.

Sinusuri ng pag-aaral na ito ang makasaysayang daloy ng kultura at kabihasnan ng sangkatauhan mula sa pananaw ng KPGM Anthropocene Missiology. Ginagamit nitong pamantayan ng pagpapakahulugan ang layunin ng Diyos sa paglikha at ang pangitain ng Kaharian ng Diyos na ipinahayag sa Banal na Kasulatan. Mula sa pananaw ng Kristiyanong misiyolohiya, nilalayon nitong hanapin ang direksiyon at mga tungkuling kinakaharap ng kultura at kabihasnan sa kasalukuyan at sa hinaharap.

이 연구는 KPGM 인류세 선교학의 관점에서 인류의 문화와 문명의 전개 과정을 살펴봅니다. 또한 성경에 계시된 하나님의 창조 목적과 하나님 나라의 비전을 해석의 기준으로 삼아, 현재와 미래의 문화와 문명이 직면한 방향과 과제를 기독교 선교학적으로 모색하고자 합니다.

First, by considering early biblical human history and ancient and medieval cultures and civilizations, this study examines the fundamental structures and patterns through which human culture and civilization were formed and historically unfolded, as well as the character and role of empire.

Second, within the long historical flow in which the relationship between human society and creation has been gradually reconfigured through land use, settled life, changes in modes of production, urban formation, and resource use since the agricultural age, this study considers modern industrial culture and industrial civilization as an important turning point in which Anthropocene civilization became fully structured and rapidly accelerated. Centered on modernity, the Scientific Revolution, industrialization, capitalism, colonial expansion, the modern nation-state, mass production, and consumer culture, it reflects on how these forces reshaped human life, social structures, labor, economy, the relationship with nature, and the global order.

Third, this study examines technological culture and technological civilization in the contemporary Anthropocene within the context of the Great Acceleration, the period after the mid-20th century when population growth, industrial production, energy use, mass consumption, and carbon emissions rapidly expanded. In particular, it considers the direction and tasks facing contemporary culture and civilization in relation to AI, robotics, semiconductors, data centers, biotechnology, space technology, the climate crisis, and the ecological crisis.

Fourth, this study examines major themes in contemporary discourses on the future of culture and civilization, including technological utopianism, the discourse on technological singularity, visions of space civilization, the modern rationalist movement, Effective Altruism and longtermism, human extinction risks related to AI, nuclear war, and pandemics, luxury communism and an automated society of abundance, and the idea of a technological republic. It also discerns and evaluates these themes from a Christian missiological perspective on the basis of the ultimate purpose of the Kingdom of God, namely the restoration of all nations and all creation, while seeking the future direction that culture and civilization should pursue.
